Haven Hall Hotel with owners & managers - David and Arielle Barratt plus Labradoodle Maizie

How did this quintessential English Country House by the sea come to be? Haven Hall is privately owned and managed by Arielle & David Barratt, both in their late 60's. We fell in love with this spectacular location on the Isle of Wight in 2013 and bought the property as a 'retirement project'. After 4 years of multi-million pound renovations we had created a stunningly beautiful home for ourselves which we could also share with guests.

So David and Arielle Barratt welcome you to Haven Hall! As it adjoins our home, you will usually get a chance to meet us on arrival. We are very much involved in running the whole Hotel and we love meeting new people! Although we have only lived here since 2013, we think this location and this view are something very special. The peaceful quiet energy of the Island has won our hearts. We think you will agree that it has a very unique charm and beauty. Although neither David nor Arielle intended to embark on such a massive building renovation project, both had previous experience with property development. Haven Hall is the happy result of their collaboration and combined talents – something to be proud of!

David Barratt has spent all his life in Property. His father was Sir Lawrie Barratt, creator of Barratt Homes. David grew up in Newcastle and spent his working life in California & Hawaii with his own Property Business. He originally qualified as a Civil Engineer and did his Masters at Manchester Business School. In the USA, he was also licensed as a Lay Minister in the Episcopal Church, and director of the Spiritual Directors Formation Programme. Due to his love of gardens and meditation, he later became a Trustee of the Quiet Garden Movement in the UK. He is keenly interested in practical psychology, philosophy and NLP. His passion has always been to create places of beauty, peace and tranquillity. After retiring he returned to the UK and met his wife Arielle and moved to Haven Hall. His main interests are Psychology, Philosophy, Politics, Economics and Religion. He is an avid reader especially "The Spectator", The Economist Magazine and the Financial Times.

Arielle originally came from the East Coast of the USA. After winning a Study Abroad scholarship to study Fine Art at UCL Slade School, she settled in the UK. Her talent expanded into doing commercial illustration work, caricatures for the newspapers and cartoon work. Her first career in art provided the basis for all her creative design of Haven Hall House & Gardens. She shares David's love of beauty, gardens and meditation, having followed a spiritual and healing path all her life. She also studied medicine for 6 years and started a second career as an Osteopath & Naturopath in 1986. Her work as a healer then expanded into studying the mind/body connection and she became a fully accredited Trainer of NLP, teaching and giving talks for 20 years. Her 3 published books detail her NLP approach to healing, psychology and philosophy. She believes that through healing the mind and emotions, you can free the body to heal itself. She continues to do insightful personal Coaching work and specialized trainings.
